Frequently Asked
Questions for E-Giving (Including PayNow)

Q: What Electronic offering options are available?

A: Changi Bethany Church currently accepts electronic offerings through PayNow and internet bank transfers. PayNow is a form of electronic banking service – it doesn’t need the payee’s bank account number, only the payee’s UEN or QR code to make payment to payee. Electronic offering, or “E-Giving”, is just another payment platform for the convenience of our congregation when contributing to our various Church ministries.

Q: What if I do not want to give using E-Giving?

A: You can still choose to give to our Church via cash or cheque offerings.

Q: Why is the church adopting E-Giving?

A: E-Giving helps to improve the productivity of our Church finance team by reducing counting and banking administration in relation to non-electronic offering methods, and also provide convenience to members of our congregation who are more savvy with cashless options. It also provides versatility to those who for various reasons are not able to be present for Church services (for instance, overseas travel), and yet wish to give electronically via PayNow or internet banking.

Q: Do I need to register for PayNow first before making an E-Giving?

A: Yes. Please refer to your respective bank to understand how to register for PayNow.

Q: How can I make E-Giving towards the various Church funds using PayNow?

A: For PayNow E-Giving, the Church has created an UEN and QR (Quick Response) code for all offering types.

UEN: T12SS0147D001

When using PayNow to give to the Church for each of the below-mentioned funds, please key one of the following codes (for ‘Worship Service’ and ‘Offering Type’) into the ‘optional reference’ field on the payment screen. If any amount received does not show these codes, or shows more than one code, the Church reserves the right to allocate your contribution as it deems fit.

Please note that we have decided not to publish payment details online in order to minimise the risk of phishing attacks. As such, please pick up an E-Giving Card (which comes with E-Giving instructions) from the Church that you can carry with you wherever you go. Instruction manual with QR code and UEN details can also be shared with you via SMS. In addition, the QR code will be flashed during Sunday services for tithings and offerings via PayNow.

Q: If I’m using E-Giving, what should I do when an offering bag comes around during service?

A: You can just pass the bag to the next person, or you can give an additional token sum.

Q: Where can I get a receipt for my E-Giving?

A: When you use a bank’s mobile app or an online portal to make a transfer, the system would usually send you an electronic receipt via email or SMS. However, should you wish to request a receipt from Changi Bethany Church, you may email the Church office to request for one, providing your PayNow details (with your name as per Bank Account).

Q: What if I accidentally send my E-Giving to the wrong recipient?

A: Every time you send money using PayNow, you will be asked to verify the name of the recipient (i.e. “Changi Bethany Church”) before confirming the payment instruction. If you are in any doubt as to the recipient, you should not confirm the payment instruction. In the unfortunate event that an amount is still sent to the wrong party, the Church cannot be held responsible.

Q: What is the maximum transfer limit per transaction?

A: The default maximum daily limit for most banks is S$1,000. This default limit can usually be changed.

Q: Which bank can I use for E-Giving?

A: For PayNow, the current participating banks are:

  • Citibank
  • DBS Bank
  • HSBC
  • Maybank
  • OCBC Bank
  • Standard Chartered Bank
  • UOB Bank
  • Bank of China
  • Industrial and Commercial Bank of China

If you are using electronic bank transfer, most banks should have this service.

Q: Who sees my E-Giving details?

A: Details of E-Giving only appear on the bank statements received by the Church finance staff. Only the finance staff have access to these statements.
